British Columbia’s healthcare and wellness sector is growing quickly, as is the need for trained professionals and specialists. If you thrive on helping others and want to make your mark in this dynamic field, our Faculty of Health has several unique and in-demand programs for certificate, diploma, degree, and post-baccalaureate degree programs, including nursing, psychiatric nursing, traditional Chinese medicine, and health care services.

You’ll be able to transfer your technical and communication skills easily to a fast-paced work environment after training in a variety of settings, including our modern facilities with advanced simulation technology and professional lab environments with impactful small-group learning.

Acupuncture Diploma Program

Acupuncture Diploma Program (TCM-AD)

Our traditional Chinese medicine-acupuncture diploma blends biomedical science with ancient Chinese philosophy, preparing you for a dynamic career in alternative medicine. The diploma program also fulfills the requirements set by the College of Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioners and Acupuncturists of BC and the competencies required by the Canadian Alliance of Regulatory Bodies of Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioners and Acupuncturists.

Bachelor of Science In Nursing (BSN)

Become a registered nurse and work in a variety of diverse environments including hospital units, clinics, and community agencies.  Your education at KPU will prepare you for an interesting and exciting career in nursing and ensure you meet the professional practice requirements outlined by the College of Registered Nurses of British Columbia.

Bachelor of Science in Nursing Post Baccalaureate (BSN-PB)

Bachelor of Science in Nursing Advanced Entry (BSN-AE)

Effective September 2017, the former Bachelor of Science in Nursing Post Baccalaurete Program has been renamed to the Bachelor of Science in Nursing Advanced Entry Program.

Already have a post-secondary degree? The advanced entry bachelor of science in nursing option may be for you. The BSN-AE is designed for students who already hold a four-year degree, and have completed 2 first year anatomy and physiology courses. The program can be completed in 27 months, and many of the courses are offered in a hybrid or blended learning approach using innovative technology.

Info sessions are offered for those interested in applying, and those who have applied and are seeking additional information.

Bachelor of Science in Nursing Post Baccalaureate (BSN-PB)

Learn to work with individuals, families, community groups, and more while promoting health and healing. Gain extensive hands-on experience in multiple institutional and community healthcare settings, understand new perspectives and issues in psychiatric nursing and mental health, and prepare for an in-demand career helping others. The psychiatric nursing program also includes degree completion for practicing registered psych nurses.

Graduates of the BPN program may also apply to semester 3 of the Bachelor of Science in Nursing Advanced Entry (BSN-AE) program.

PLEASE NOTE: Prospective students need to complete Health Foundations in Year 1, prior to entering the BPN program. Current students need to declare their intent to complete the BPN program, in Year 2.

Health Unit Coordinator (HAUC)

Health Unit Coordinator (HUC)

The Health Unit Coordinator Program will prepare you to work in acute, long-term, and extended care units as a unit clerk, unit coordinator, or nursing unit assistant. Coordinate and process written orders, maintain patient charts, and work as an integral part of the healthcare team supporting patients.

Promote health, safety, and independence as a healthcare assistant. The program will prepare you to work directly with clients, and in a range of community and institutional care environments.

Health Foundations

Health Foundations

Your healthcare career starts here. The Health Foundations Certificate is designed to prepare you with the skills and knowledge necessary for further study in the Faculty of Health. The program includes first year courses necessary for both the bachelor of science in nursing and the bachelor of psychiatric nursing. The Health Foundations Certificate has intakes each semester.
