FSDP 9021 - Introduction to Laser Cutting & 3D Printing – Wilson School of Design, KPU Richmond Campus
Learn the basics of Laser Cutting and 3D Printing in this condensed 1 day course for all interested students, industry, and community members. Our experienced faculty will show you how to set up your files, how to prep the machines, and provide demos on a variety of materials. You will be given time to test your own materials and create your own files (you can even bring in a file ready to go to test) for a hands on approach to learning this technical and innovative machinery. A basic understanding of Adobe Illustrator is an asset, programs used will be Adobe Illustrator and Rhino (3D Printing)

FSDP 9022 - Introduction to Specialty Machinery – Wilson School of Design, KPU Richmond Campus
Seam Sealers, Ultrasonic Welders, Heat Presses, oh my! Explore all of the innovative Specialty Machinery at the Wilson School of Design in this condensed 1 day introductory course. Our experienced faculty will be providing demos on a variety of the more advanced technology in our production labs, such as:
• Seam Sealer
• Thermowelder (Edge Binding + Seam Sealing)
• Ultrasonic Welder
• Heat/Cool Press
You will be given the opportunity to test all of the machinery and create samples to bring home. Students are encouraged to bring in their own ideas and materials to test, all other materials will be provided.
Prerequisites: Basic sewing skills an asset

FSDP 9033 – Introduction to Night Time Photography – Off Campus, Grouse Mountain
Building up your photography skills? Bring along your SLR camera and your curiosity for a workshop on night time photography, taught by Visiting Professor Tero Marin from Metropolia University in Helsinki. Students will take the tram up to the top of Grouse Mountain for spectacular views of the Lower Mainland and North Shore Mountains, perfect subjects for a photo series. No prior experience necessary, but basic skills with a digital SLR camera highly recommended.

Students will be required to provide their own transportation to and from the base of Grouse Mountain. You will receive detailed information about a meeting time and place once registered. Students should come prepared for the weather on the mountain, and dress appropriately. Bring food and beverages as needed (and/or purchase snacks on Grouse Mountain). Please note that the course fee covers the cost of the Grouse Mountain tram and instructional fees, but does not cover food, drink or transportation costs.
